Description

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, Customer Success, and Finance to align priorities and deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.
  • Translate platform and business needs into clear roadmaps, milestones, and success metrics and own outcomes end-to-end (planning, prioritization, delivery, operational excellence).
  • Establish and continuously improve team mechanisms across discovery, planning, delivery, and retrospectives to improve predictability and quality.
  • Build trust through clear communication, strong execution, and follow-through; hold cross-functional partners accountable to shared goals.
  • Champion an experimentation-driven mindset by defining hypotheses, success metrics, guardrails, and rollout strategies and ensure results are visible through clear written communication (readouts, decision docs, postmortems).
  • Build an inclusive, high-performing team culture grounded in trust, ownership, and continuous improvement and coach engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, career development planning, and performance conversations.
  • Identify and develop future technical leaders in partnership with Staff and Principal engineers.
  • Establish strong engineering fundamentals across code review, testing strategies, system design, and documentation and ensure systems are designed and operated for reliability, scalability, and resilience.
  • Partner with senior technical leaders on architecture and technical strategy, lead incident readiness and post-incident learning, and enable responsible use of GenAI developer tools while upholding standards for security, privacy, and correctness.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of people management experience with demonstrated ownership of team delivery, growth, and performance in the latest role.
  • 10+ years of experience building and operating distributed, event-driven systems in production.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to run effective delivery processes and improve predictability and quality over time.
  • Strong fundamentals in API-first system design and platform architecture.
  • Experience applying data and/or AI capabilities in production environments (analytics, automation, recommendations, or decision support).
  • Production experience with Java, Node.js, Vue, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience operating systems in the cloud (AWS or equivalent), including configuration, reliability, and observability.
  • Solid understanding of software quality practices, testing strategies, and continuous improvement.
  • Must be based in the US or Canada.
  • Strong plus: experience with search or information retrieval systems.
  • Strong plus: experience with workflow orchestration and infrastructure tooling (e.g., Argo, Airflow, Terraform, Ansible).
  • Strong plus: familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., Grafana, Datadog, Dynatrace) and integrating with external social platforms/APIs (TikTok, Meta, YouTube).
