Description

  • Architect, build, and own backend services and data pipelines for map validation and simulation.
  • Provide technical leadership for scalable web-based annotation tooling, including editing, interpolation, propagation, and review workflows.
  • Design data models and storage architectures across relational, spatial, and object stores while ensuring integrity, lineage, and performance.
  • Build high-performance point-cloud and image rendering using three.js/WebGL, streaming formats, predictive prefetching, and sensor overlays.
  • Use AWS services such as S3, Lambda, ECS, and RDS to deploy reliable, scalable pipelines and services.
  • Drive architecture decisions, document technical direction, and align stakeholders across platform domains.
  • Collaborate with Mapping, Simulation, Annotation, and Perception teams on upstream and downstream requirements.
  • Mentor engineers through reviews and pairing while improving engineering standards, documentation, and operational rigor.
  • Reduce technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and reliability gaps, and lead production incident response.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend services at scale.
  • Expertise in Python and strong proficiency with SQL.
  • Experience designing web services and APIs, with strong TypeScript and modern web framework knowledge; full-stack experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of C++ or ability to learn it.
  • Database and data-modeling expertise, including PostgreSQL or similar systems.
  • Experience owning architecture for complex, multi-service or multi-pipeline systems.
  • Proficiency with Git/GitHub and familiarity with JIRA or similar project-management tools.
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and reliability engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: experience with annotation platforms, PostGIS, geospatial or sensor data, three.js/WebGL, HD maps, robotics data ecosystems, or autonomous vehicles.
