Description

  • Define and execute the strategy for Toptal’s AI, machine learning, and generative AI practice.
  • Identify high-value client problems and develop a roadmap for AI/ML offerings.
  • Create and refine services such as LLM integration, custom model training, AI strategy consulting, and AI-powered analytics.
  • Lead go-to-market efforts to validate offerings and scale adoption with Sales and Practice Operations.
  • Represent Toptal as an AI thought leader through publications, speaking engagements, and community involvement.
  • Educate sales teams on AI/ML concepts, market trends, and value propositions.
  • Lead key client discussions and support commercial growth for the practice.
  • Own the financial performance and P&L of the AI/ML practice.
  • Build and maintain a network of AI engineers, data scientists, and ML researchers.
  • Lead, supervise, coach, and mentor team members, including setting objectives, delegating work, and conducting performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; a master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in Technology Services and/or Product, including 10+ years in AI/ML.
  • Deep experience in enterprise AI initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, LLMs, and AI governance.
  • Proficiency with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and MLOps tools.
  • Track record of leading AI commercialization and productization efforts.
  • P&L ownership experience in a technology services context.
  • Industry experience in marketing, finance, healthcare, or e-commerce is preferred.
  • Ability to bridge technical and business conversations with executives and engineers.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company and manage varied deadlines and contacts.
  • Highly collaborative, with close work alongside Marketing, Sales, and Talent Operations teams.
  • Must submit resumes and communication in English.
  • Must be a world-class individual contributor, not only a people manager.
