Description

  • Lead design strategy and execution for Toast IQ Core’s experience across web, mobile, and hardware.
  • Own interaction design, design system, and componentry for the AI assistant product.
  • Shape how the assistant evolves from chat experiences to agentic workflows.
  • Partner with product, engineering, data science, go-to-market, and external partners to define the future of intelligence at Toast.
  • Drive prototyping and experimentation for AI features such as memory, personalization, actions, and automation.
  • Conduct and coordinate data analysis, user research, and usability testing to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate directly with conversational and service designers to create cohesive experiences across the platform.
  • Lead end-to-end design for core UX/UI features within Toast’s AI ecosystem.
  • Mentor junior designers and promote best practices and innovation within the design team.
  • Support the launch, gating, and adoption of premium AI features.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead high-impact design initiatives at a principal level.
  • Experience leading end-to-end design for core UX/UI features across web and native mobile platforms.
  • Deep understanding of emerging AI use cases, user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.
  • Proven ability and desire to conduct and coordinate data analysis, user research, and usability testing.
  • Proficiency with emerging AI tools such as Claude and Codex.
  • Proficiency with design and collaboration tools such as Figma and Miro.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners.
  • Strong technical fluency with APIs, data flows, and personalization algorithms.
  • Experience with LLMs, experimentation, A/B testing, personalization engines, or automation frameworks.
  • Restaurant industry experience and enthusiasm for designing solutions for restaurant operators is preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $190,000–$304,000 USD for Zone A, $165,000–$264,000 USD for Zone B, or $149,000–$238,000 USD for Zone C.
  • Additional total rewards including cash compensation such as overtime and bonus/commissions if eligible.
