Description

  • Own Cards & Credit product problems from initial framing through shipped experience in partnership with Product and Engineering.
  • Turn complicated systems, requirements, and edge cases into simple, intuitive product experiences.
  • Work across the full design process, including problem framing, concept exploration, workflows, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and final implementation.
  • Explore broadly and design from first principles, challenging inherited patterns and assumptions when needed.
  • Bring strong interaction and visual craft to workflow structure, hierarchy, typography, motion, and states.
  • Collaborate with Mercury’s Brand team on physical cards and related products to create a cohesive experience.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customers and communicate design reasoning clearly to partners.
  • Work through tradeoffs with Product and Engineering to arrive at the strongest solution.

Requirements

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional product thinking, interaction design, and visual craft.
  • Ability to understand complicated systems and turn them into simple, thoughtful product experiences.
  • Deep curiosity about the underlying problem and a willingness to question assumptions and work from first principles.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and taking ownership without waiting for every requirement to be defined.
  • Experience exploring multiple possibilities, prototyping ideas, and changing direction when a stronger solution emerges.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to articulate thinking, explain tradeoffs, and build conviction with Product and Engineering partners.
  • High bar for craft and judgment about where additional detail meaningfully improves an experience.
  • Deep care for customers and ambition to create products that genuinely improve their lives.
  • No background in banking, fintech, cards, or credit is required.
  • Preferred compensation details: US base salary target of $189,000 - $236,200 USD or Canadian base salary target of $178,600 - $223,200 CAD.
