Description

  • Advise cross-functional business stakeholders on multi-national financial laws and regulations for international expansion efforts.
  • Draft and negotiate strategic partnership agreements and other commercial contracts with financial institutions, payment processors, card networks, merchants, and other financial services providers.
  • Research, analyze, and respond to legal and regulatory questions across a range of financial products and services in multiple geographies.
  • Represent Legal on cross-functional teams to help design and implement financial products and identify compliant solutions for complex use cases and escalated issues.
  • Ensure products and initiatives comply with applicable laws, regulations, partner contracts, and card brand rules.
  • Review multi-channel advertising materials for legal compliance and provide guidance to Marketing stakeholders.

Requirements

  • ABA-accredited law school degree, or the equivalent in your jurisdiction, plus all professional and legal requirements necessary to practice in-house law in your jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of legal experience advising corporate clients on international financial products and services.
  • Experience with financial services regulations in one or more of the following locations: UK, Ireland, Canada, and/or Australia.
  • Experience leading negotiations and drafting commercial agreements and consumer terms of service in the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of financial laws, regulations, and best practices across multiple international territories, including banking products, consumer protection, extensions of credit, money transmission, and card association/payment network rules.
  • Experience overseeing the expansion of multiple financial products and services into new global territories and managing several implementations at once.
  • Subject matter expertise in payments and experience with banking products.
  • Comfort working in a hyper-fast paced environment and adapting well to change.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation with a base salary range of $205,000-$249,000 in Zone A, $178,000-$232,000 in Zone B, and $160,000-$218,000 in Zone C.
