Description

  • Lead the technical direction for critical backend systems.
  • Improve the throughput and performance of job processing and code execution infrastructure.
  • Write and review high-quality, well-tested code to keep the product stable and maintainable.
  • Identify and drive improvements in the codebase and engineering practices.
  • Own solutions through production and respond to customer feedback to refine them.
  • Mentor other engineers and support their growth.
  • Work across the stack as needed, including infrastructure and frontend contributions.
  • Build and share learnings with the broader engineering community through writing and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Typically 10+ years of experience as a professional software engineer.
  • Proven track record as a staff software engineer.
  • Experience with Linux systems concepts such as namespaces, file descriptors, Unix sockets, mounts, networking, and process isolation.
  • Experience with container runtimes, orchestration, or code execution platforms.
  • Filesystem and storage experience, including POSIX behavior, content-addressed storage, and crash recovery.
  • Experience building and owning low-level system primitives in Rust or Go.
  • Strong debugging skills with the ability to isolate kernel, runtime, and storage issues using logs, traces, metrics, and tests.
  • Comfort working broadly across a product and contributing where needed, not just in one specialized area.
  • Familiarity with common tools and technologies including Ruby, Rails, React, TypeScript, Rust, Go, Postgres, Redis, AWS CDK, and Docker.
  • Education is not a requirement; ability and foundational experience matter more than degree or prior employers.
