Description

  • Develop and execute the end-to-end product vision for banking payments across local and international rails, multi-currency accounts, and local IBANs.
  • Lead cross-functional agile teams through the full product development lifecycle, including transaction lifecycle mapping, technical specifications, and delivery execution.
  • Own discovery and solution design for money-movement controls, clearing, settlement, financial ledgers, and safeguarding and reconciliation processes.
  • Work with senior leaders, backend engineers, data scientists, compliance officers, and risk experts to design and optimize the payment core.
  • Engage with central banks, clearing houses, BaaS partners, and Open Banking infrastructure providers to identify new payment opportunities.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Legal to ensure payment features meet FCA, PRA, EMI, and local central bank requirements and reduce fraud and transaction risk.
  • Optimize monetization opportunities across interchange, FX markups, premium payment features, and data enrichment, while supporting Finance with quarterly forecasting.
  • Define and track KPIs and OKRs such as activation, transaction velocity, liquidity/deposits, exception rates, and processing costs.
  • Mentor junior PMs and manage external banking providers/vendors as needed.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product management experience focused on core banking systems, payment rails, clearing/settlement infrastructure, or EMIs.
  • Strong technical understanding of SEPA, Faster Payments, UPI, SWIFT, and Open Banking / PSD2 frameworks.
  • Comfort discussing financial topics with compliance stakeholders and technical topics with backend architects.
  • Understanding of API design, transaction logging, race conditions, and edge cases in high-throughput core systems.
  • Solid knowledge of funds flow, ledger management, double-entry bookkeeping, and automated safeguarding/reconciliation processes.
  • Well-versed in UK/EU/global financial regulations, including FCA, PRA, EBA guidelines, AML/KYB compliance, and transaction reporting requirements.
  • Strong understanding of SME financial pain points such as cash-flow management, payment acceptance, FX, and account reconciliation.
  • Proven experience mentoring junior PMs, managing third-party banking providers/vendors, and aligning senior executive stakeholders.
  • Hands-on execution style with the ability to balance strategic thinking and detailed technical data flow work.
