Description

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closes and prepare client financial statements.
  • Manage year-end adjustments and maintain balance sheet accounts.
  • Coach Executive Directors, CEOs, and client staff on financial management and strategic decisions.
  • Conduct high-level financial analyses to support client decision-making.
  • Review team deliverables for accuracy, quality, and alignment with client objectives.
  • Identify process and system weaknesses, recommend improvements, and support implementation.
  • Create and maintain client documentation and written accounting procedures.
  • Coordinate with auditors and tax accountants and support audit-related activities.
  • Partner with Senior Accountants to fulfill annual client contract obligations and meet deadlines.
  • Advise private foundations on grantmaking operations, board reporting, investment oversight, financial management, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on, full-charge accounting experience supporting nonprofits and/or private foundations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, grants, and grant accounting.
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience managing multiple clients, competing deadlines, and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Collaborative, consultative approach and a commitment to serving nonprofit organizations.
  • Ability to work independently, remain accountable, and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
  • Audit experience or experience supporting an employer audit (preferred).
  • Experience supporting private foundations, including grantmaking, investment reporting, board governance, regulatory compliance, Form 990-PF, charitable distribution rules, and foundation financial reporting (preferred).
