Description

  • Advise middle and high school students through all stages of the college admissions process.
  • Manage a predetermined student caseload, adjusting to company needs and availability.
  • Collaborate with College Admissions Coaches and fellow counselors as part of a program team.
  • Consult with prospective families by video or phone, explain program options, onboard clients, and support deadline management.
  • Counsel families through high-pressure admissions situations.
  • Deliver college admissions webinars and social media events as needed.
  • Support institutional programming and other organizational special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 2–3 years of undergraduate admissions experience at a selective college or university required.
  • High school or independent college counseling experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of college admissions and application processes, with commitment to staying current in the field.
  • Exceptional writing and college essay-editing skills.
  • Strong communication and public-speaking skills.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, time management, and accountability.
  • Experience using web-based tools to advise students.
  • Collaborative, engaging, flexible approach to working with students and families.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, particularly during the August–December application season.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay of $50–$90, based on experience and skills.
  • Expected schedule of 15–30 hours per week during the September–November application season.
