Description

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, editorial, marketing, and data partners to deliver shared product goals.
  • Conduct user research with the team to understand user behaviour and identify needs.
  • Translate research insights into sketches, user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for testing.
  • Define clear user journeys and flows that align teams around the intended experience.
  • Create production-ready design assets and work with engineers to ship high-quality experiences.
  • Participate in workshops and design sprints to engage stakeholders throughout product development.
  • Share work regularly with the team and other designers to communicate progress and design rationale.
  • Help uphold The Economist brand digitally while accounting for technical constraints and intuitive user flows.

Requirements

  • Experience designing subscription-based products across web and mobile apps.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates design process and core craft skills in interaction and visual design.
  • Some experience working collaboratively with engineers, product managers, and other designers in an agile environment.
  • Experience with agile working, sprints, and hands-on user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Familiarity with accessibility and usability fundamentals.
  • Experience sketching, prototyping, and moving through different levels of fidelity quickly.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Miro, Protopie, or Figma.
  • Experience with AI-enabled prototyping tools is a plus.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills and fluency in English.
  • A willingness to learn and grow through feedback and self-reflection.
