Description

  • Design product experiences that are systematic, interactive, and visually polished across the Pinterest product ecosystem.
  • Partner with Design Innovation teammates and cross-functional partners to evolve and implement the product design language.
  • Conduct quality audits, review flows and handoffs, and contribute hands-on design work to uphold craft standards.
  • Rapidly prototype, validate, and refine new ideas using Figma, code, AI, or other tools as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and research to develop user-centric, data-informed solutions and support implementation.
  • Incorporate qualitative and quantitative research, experiments, and marketplace or AI trends into design direction.
  • Contribute to design reviews and critique to support accessible, inclusive, and high-quality design execution.
  • Mentor and guide other designers through critique, feedback, and sharing best practices across teams.
  • Present design thinking, rationale, and vision to teams, leaders, and executives to build alignment and consensus.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in product design with a portfolio of shipped or in-progress work showing strong visual and interaction design skills.
  • Experience in staff- or principal-level roles influencing across teams and partnering cross-functionally, ideally in large-scale consumer or platform environments.
  • Expert-level motion and visual design skills, with a strong understanding of how animation and transitions affect usability and comprehension.
  • Ability to design within and extend a design system while balancing consistency with innovation.
  • Comfort experimenting with Figma prototypes, AI, and optionally front-end code; familiarity with technical feasibility, accessibility, and design workflow systems is preferred.
  • Strong product thinking and systems thinking, with the ability to connect design decisions to user outcomes and measurable impact.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to synthesize ambiguity into actionable design problems.
  • High attention to detail and ownership of product quality, cohesion, accessibility, and inclusive design.
  • Collaborative, low-ego working style with a growth mindset, passion for experimentation, and mentoring others.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Bonus: Experience leading platform-wide or multi-product design system initiatives.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with personalization, large consumer apps, or rapid-scale environments.
  • Bonus: Contributions to public design systems, open-source libraries, or industry talks/writing.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $158,765 to $326,870 USD for US-based applicants.
  • Eligible for equity.
  • Remote-friendly role that can be situated anywhere in the country.
  • Requires only 1-2 in-office collaboration visits every 6 months.
