Description

  • Define and own data architecture standards, patterns, and strategy across the platform.
  • Review cross-team data designs and implementations for architectural consistency, performance, and scalability.
  • Create reference implementations, proofs of concept, and hands-on guidance for complex data engineering challenges.
  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines, integrations, platform features, APIs, and ingestion systems.
  • Design IoT data ingestion and distribution architecture, including replayability, aggregation, and real-time distribution.
  • Establish data quality, automated validation, testing, and data integrity standards across the organization.
  • Partner with product managers to scope and plan new data features and capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the CTO and engineering leadership on strategic data initiatives and long-term architectural direction.
  • Design and support data infrastructure for AI/ML initiatives, including training pipelines, feature stores, and inference data flows.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies and produce architecture documentation.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional data engineering or software development experience.
  • 2+ years providing architectural direction and design oversight across engineering teams.
  • Experience setting data architecture standards and providing technical oversight across multiple teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, data architecture, and distributed systems.
  • Substantial SQL experience; NoSQL experience is a plus.
  • Experience using Python for data engineering workflows; Node.js experience is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS, particularly S3, RDS, DMS, and VPC; Redshift or EMR experience is a plus.
  • Experience with large-scale data systems, data warehousing, and the open-source data ecosystem.
  • Experience designing data architectures for IoT or high-frequency telemetry systems; Docker, RabbitMQ, Spark/Flink, Airflow, and AI/ML data infrastructure experience are preferred.
