Description

  • Own execution of the executive team’s technical strategy and turn high-level goals into actionable milestones and scalable system designs.
  • Lead by example by building prototypes, core libraries, and foundational projects.
  • Set and enforce technical standards that address failure modes, scalability, and performance in production.
  • Run design reviews with a focus on backward compatibility and verification for data-heavy systems.
  • Evolve the microservices platform on Node.js, EKS, and AWS to reduce technical debt and improve efficiency.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to clarify requirements and keep implementation aligned with the original vision.
  • Guide the data lifecycle from IoT ingestion through storage and processing.
  • Implement observability and monitoring standards to support high uptime and reliability.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in an architectural leadership role such as Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Experience defining technical standards and design quality across multiple engineering teams.
  • Experience turning high-level concepts into documented patterns and designs that teams can implement independently.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems and microservices architecture, including mature microservices environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript and Node.js in service-based architectures.
  • Experience with Node.js microservices communicating via RabbitMQ and HTTP on AWS, including EKS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Strong data architecture experience with high-volume, real-time data systems such as IoT or event-driven systems.
  • Experience improving reliability, performance, observability, monitoring, and fault tolerance at scale.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
