Description

  • Conduct customer discovery meetings to define reporting requirements and business needs.
  • Work with customers on Power BI licensing options and deployment constraints.
  • Create well-performing star schema data models for Power BI, including calculated columns and measures.
  • Build Power BI solutions that import data from multiple sources and deliver reports and dashboards.
  • Develop DAX expressions and source queries to create the required data elements for reporting.
  • Guide customers in deploying Power BI solutions to the Power BI service, including gateways, DirectQuery, DataFlows, and scheduled data updates.
  • Gather requirements and run focus groups to identify business processes and reporting needs.
  • Design and develop user interfaces that are easy for business users to use with minimal database knowledge.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize data pipelines and workflows using Databricks.
  • Report on visual choices and visual interactions to support effective analytics experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with data and business intelligence solutions on the Microsoft BI stack, including SSRS, Power BI, PowerPivot (Excel), or PerformancePoint, or other BI tools such as Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Qlik, or SAP.
  • Working knowledge of T-SQL, data modeling, and reporting using Power BI or other Microsoft tools.
  • Experience building complete Power BI report solutions with linked content, drilldowns, and nested parameters.
  • Experience with advanced DAX techniques and dynamic measure design.
  • Knowledge of data mashups and transformations using Power Query/M language.
  • Experience using Databricks to develop and optimize data pipelines and workflows.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute in a team-oriented setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Preferred experience with Power BI tenant and workspace management, Python or R for custom visuals, advanced SQL query tuning, data quality identification, Power BI Report Server, Power BI Embedded, and Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL DB.
