Description

  • Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts that showcase Tailscale for AI agents and tooling, including MCP gateways, LLM proxies, and remote servers.
  • Work directly with customers to integrate Tailscale for internal adoption and for embedding secure connectivity into their products.
  • Create reference architectures and communicate solutions through documentation, community engagement, and presentations.
  • Iterate rapidly with colleagues and reference customers to refine solutions based on feedback and emerging real-world needs.
  • Demonstrate how Tailscale's platform can support both internal networking use cases and customer-facing workloads.
  • Validate solutions for production use in collaboration with security teams.

Requirements

  • Experience iteratively developing software in startup-like or fast-paced environments.
  • Strong ability to rapidly prototype, explain technical concepts, and work directly with customers in an exploratory environment.
  • Go experience is required.
  • Experience with third-party API integrations and basic networking.
  • Daily use of LLMs for planning and development, with comfort building tools or applications on top of LLMs.
  • Experience with access control concepts such as RBAC/ABAC, session management, MFA, and passwordless authentication.
  • Familiarity with identity infrastructure, including IdP platforms, identity sync/provisioning, and directory services.
  • Knowledge of authentication and provisioning protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, SAML, and SCIM.
  • Experience validating code for production use with security teams.
  • Ability to thrive working independently in a remote environment.
  • Preferred: Python and/or TypeScript experience.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Tailscale networking solutions.
  • Preferred: experience with agentic AI tools and security considerations.
  • Preferred: background in developer tooling.
  • Preferred: understanding of networking challenges in multi-cloud and hybrid deployments.
  • Preferred: open source community participation.

  • Base salary range of $163,000 to $226,000 USD.
