Description

  • Support internal business units by building shared engineering services, tools, and processes that help teams succeed.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the organization to understand needs and own projects end to end.
  • Work with internal customer-facing teams to improve their day-to-day workflows and support their mission.
  • Partner with product engineering to extract data that informs business decisions.
  • Design, build, test, and document core software components as part of an engineering team.
  • Own the running services that comprise Tailscale’s product by improving observability, responding to incidents, and handling customer support escalations.
  • Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of system resources.
  • Introduce new developer tooling to increase engineering productivity.
  • Improve existing tooling such as CI/CD systems.
  • Create tooling for development and staging environments and surface potential issues from production data.

Requirements

  • Experience with CI/CD, secrets management, infrastructure as code, and/or observability.
  • Experience with developer tooling or developer experience.
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts such as IP addressing and routing.
  • Experience with Go is a plus; most non-front-end parts of the system are developed in Go.
  • Familiarity with one or more SQL databases is a plus.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and work independently.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • CAN pay range of $242,540 to $302,840 CAD.
