Description

  • Manage and mentor a small team of senior engineers in a growth-stage startup environment.
  • Translate customer and market signals into shippable prototypes, reference architectures, and integrations.
  • Provide technical direction on prototypes and externally visible artifacts such as reference repos, blog posts, talks, and customer demos.
  • Set the team’s approach to using AI coding tools, including adoption, review, and security practices.
  • Own the quality bar for code, security, and operational rigor across the team’s outputs.
  • Hire, develop, and support engineers while fostering an inclusive, candid, and creative team culture.
  • Collaborate with product, core platform engineering, security, go-to-market, and reference customers on cross-functional projects.
  • Drive planning across short and long time horizons, balancing fast prototype cycles with strategic bets.
  • Support the team’s adoption of tools and workflows that help ship quickly without lowering production standards.
  • Contribute to organizational growth through hiring, culture-building, and process improvement.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience managing and mentoring engineering teams, including performance, career development, hiring, and culture.
  • Experience developing in Go.
  • Heavy daily use of coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools, with a clear point of view on their strengths, limitations, and safeguards.
  • Ability to coach engineers on effective use of LLMs and coding agents in their workflow.
  • Comfort with exploratory, customer-facing engineering and translating customer conversations into prototypes and reference designs.
  • Comfort working in a fast-changing strategy team at an early-stage or growth-stage startup.
  • Ability to work asynchronously in a fully remote environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10-15% for onsites, conferences, or customer visits.
  • Nice to have: experience building applications on top of LLMs and agentic systems.
  • Nice to have: networking background covering L4-L7 connectivity, browser and DNS behaviors, and familiarity with Tailscale.
  • Nice to have: identity infrastructure experience including IdP platforms, OAuth, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, RBAC/ABAC, session management, MFA, and passwordless auth.
  • Nice to have: experience leading publicly visible work such as open source, devrel, or reference implementations.
