Description

  • Manage and grow the engineering leads for Merchants Core and Merchants Growth.
  • Run 1:1s, set goals, provide feedback, and develop team members.
  • Own hiring for the Merchants teams, including sourcing, interviewing, and closing candidates.
  • Set technical direction and own architectural decisions across billing, invoicing, checkout, dashboard, and the delivery promise engine.
  • Write and review RFCs for non-trivial features and establish the decision-making standard for engineering work.
  • Review AI-generated and human-written code with equal rigor.
  • Own sprint health, backlog quality, and delivery predictability across both teams.
  • Ensure KTLO work such as billing reliability, notification infrastructure, and account management consistently has ownership.
  • Partner with the Merchants PM and designer to turn product strategy into engineering roadmaps.
  • Work with the Head of Engineering, Customer Success, and Data teams on org planning, merchant pain points, reconciliation, and analytics infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineering teams.
  • Proven experience managing multiple teams or a team of teams simultaneously.
  • Architect-level technical depth in billing systems, API design, and product infrastructure.
  • Experience with Node.js/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Stripe or equivalent payment infrastructure.
  • Comfort working in a high-growth startup environment with changing priorities.
  • Player-coach mindset with willingness to get hands-on when needed.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
