Description

  • Design scalable near-real-time data streams that integrate multiple data sources into analytics pipelines and relational databases.
  • Improve the robustness and performance of SQL database systems to support high-volume data inserts and fast customer API reads.
  • Architect highly performant APIs for large geospatial and tabular datasets to support downstream visualization and analytics.
  • Use AI coding agents to accelerate development and establish effective AI-assisted SDLC workflows.
  • Work alongside software engineers and data scientists to support MLOps and data science initiatives with programming and infrastructure help.
  • Help shape engineering direction by implementing strong data management practices and staying current with emerging data processing technologies.
  • Refactor, profile, and optimize codebases to improve reliability and performance.
  • Implement integration testing, debugging, and deployment automation for cloud microservices.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
  • Must be located and working within Central Time (CT) or Eastern Time (ET) zones.
  • BS degree in a STEM field.
  • 4+ years of experience in a software engineering role with a strong focus on data engineering.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with modern cloud systems such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Production-grade proficiency in Python and first experience with TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, distributed systems, relational database design/optimization, and scalable API design.
  • Experience with or a strong demonstrated interest in adapting the SDLC for AI-assisted development.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for a distributed team spanning the US and UK.
  • Preferred: Domain knowledge in the Energy or Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Preferred: Experience with geospatial data processing tools and databases.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with additional languages such as Go or C#.
