Description

  • Design the full Hippo Plus experience across the sales funnel, customer flows, and back-office tools.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers from discovery through shipping to define problems and explore solutions.
  • Create designs that support product metrics such as conversion, activation, and retention.
  • Run user interviews, shadow sessions, and lightweight feedback loops with customers and internal teams.
  • Sketch, wireframe, and prototype at the appropriate level of fidelity using Figma and related tools.
  • Facilitate alignment across product, design, and engineering teams.
  • Share process, ideas, and learnings openly during design critiques and team discussions.
  • Contribute to production changes that go directly live and evaluate their impact using metrics.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience shipping production design work.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates process, data-informed decisions, and impact.
  • Strong proficiency with Figma, including components, variables, auto-layout, and prototyping.
  • Experience designing across consumer flows, transactional emails, back-office tools, and dashboards.
  • Comfort using LLMs as part of the design toolkit, such as for research synthesis, drafting, prototyping, and writing.
  • Ability to work independently on projects with support from a Staff Designer when needed.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Availability in the afternoons 2-3 days a week, with occasional evening calls for US time zones.
  • Clear design process and ability to defend ideas while giving and receiving feedback constructively.
  • Preferred: experience designing consumer-facing insurance or fintech products.
  • Preferred: experience designing AI-powered features such as chatbots, agent assistance, or LLM-in-the-loop interfaces.
  • Preferred: familiarity with US home insurance, claims, or insurance operations, or strong curiosity to learn.
  • Preferred: experience working with US stakeholders and cross-time-zone collaboration.
