Description

  • Design, build, and scale core platform infrastructure for high-volume web traffic at the CDN and edge computing layer.
  • Lead architecture discussions, technical planning, and long-term platform design decisions.
  • Author design documents and help define how the platform evolves over time.
  • Plan and execute gradual rollouts by defining target audiences, KPIs, and success metrics before shipping changes.
  • Debug complex front-end behavior caused by backend platform changes across browsers, devices, and geographies.
  • Partner with the data engineering team to build testability, measurement, and observability at scale.
  • Solve complex technical problems with significant scope and ambiguity in a largely unexplored problem space.
  • Mentor engineers and act as a technical escalation point for difficult platform issues.
  • Stay current with emerging web performance, edge computing, and browser optimization practices.
  • Integrate AI coding tools into the engineering workflow to improve delivery speed and code quality.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of software engineering experience building and scaling high-traffic, multi-tenant web platforms.
  • Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Experience designing and operating distributed, high-availability systems at meaningful scale.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience with CDN infrastructure and web performance optimization tools such as Cloudflare, Lighthouse, and WebPageTest.
  • Experience with optimization techniques such as web workers, lazy loading, and code splitting.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience, preferably with Pulumi or a similar tool.
  • Strong SQL and data querying skills, including experience working with data warehouses.
  • Experience with message queues such as SQS or Kinesis, and with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Redshift, or similar data storage systems.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail in high-traffic environments.
  • Active use of AI tools in engineering workflows such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Codex.
  • Strong English communication skills for technical discussions and async collaboration.
  • Availability to work full Eastern Standard Time hours.
  • Cloudflare Workers or edge computing experience is highly preferred.
  • E-commerce platform experience such as Shopify or Salesforce Commerce Cloud is preferred.
  • Snowflake or data warehouse query optimization experience is preferred.
  • Background in media or high-traffic publishing platforms is preferred.
  • Experience leading or operating a multi-brand or multi-tenant web platform is preferred.
  • Startup experience owning significant platform surface area with a small team is preferred.
  • Agile or Scrum experience in a distributed team environment is preferred.

Benefits

  • Salary of $6,000 to $8,000 USD per month.
  • 15 days of PTO.
  • Local or US holidays.
