Description

  • Coordinate patient referrals to specialists, surgery centers, and hospitals.
  • Submit and track prior authorizations for procedures.
  • Process outpatient referrals accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify insurance and follow payer-specific requirements for referrals and authorizations.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders to complete referral workflows in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain compliance with California insurance guidelines and referral processes.
  • Manage a high volume of referrals while preserving accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Provide clear communication and coordination support to patients and healthcare partners.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English and Spanish, both spoken and written.
  • Previous experience as a Referral Coordinator in a medical practice.
  • Hands-on experience submitting prior authorizations for procedures.
  • Experience coordinating referrals with specialists, surgery centers, and hospitals.
  • Experience processing outpatient referrals.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare, Medical/Medicaid, HMO, PPO, and other commercial insurance plans.
  • Knowledge of California insurance guidelines and referral processes.
  • Required experience using Athenahealth EMR.
  • Strong understanding of insurance verification, referrals, and authorization workflows.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Philippines-based bilingual candidates preferred.
  • Experience working in multi-specialty or outpatient medical practices preferred.
  • Strong customer service and patient communication skills preferred.

Benefits

  • Full-time contractor position at 40 hours per week.
  • Negotiable pay rate based on skillset and experience.
  • Monday through Friday schedule.
  • Hours are 8 AM to 5 PM PST.
