Description

  • Process, track, and close 25–30 specialized GI referrals per day.
  • Review clinical chart notes and submit the correct CPT and ICD-10 codes for prior authorization.
  • Navigate HMO and PPO insurance requirements and follow up on authorization status with insurers.
  • Communicate with insurance medical directors and utilization management teams to help prevent procedural delays.
  • Compile and send surgical packets, clinical documentation, and preparation materials to surgery centers and patients.
  • Call patients to confirm scheduling details, verify demographic information, and review preparation instructions.
  • Answer inbound inquiries from providers, patients, and insurance representatives about referrals, scheduling, and authorizations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, approval numbers, and scheduling logs in Athenahealth EMR.
  • Coordinate care packets and referral workflow between the practice, outside surgical centers, and patients.

Requirements

  • 1–2+ years of direct administrative experience using Athenahealth EMR.
  • Candidates without Athenahealth experience will not be considered.
  • Experience submitting clinical data through insurance portals and managing HMO referral requirements.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment handling 25+ medical referrals per day.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a professional, confident phone presence.
  • Open to native English speakers and highly articulate bilingual PH-based talent.
  • Distraction-free home office setup that complies with HIPAA privacy laws.
  • High-speed internet and a mandatory automated hourly time-tracker.
  • Prior experience in a Gastroenterology, general surgery, or internal medicine practice is highly preferred.
  • Fluency in medical terminology related to endoscopy, colonoscopy procedures, diagnostic codes, and clear liquid diet workflows is highly preferred.
