Description

  • Draft, negotiate, and interpret commercial agreements with clients and ad tech ecosystem partners.
  • Manage IAB terms and privacy-related platform agreements.
  • Review and negotiate AI and automation vendor agreements, including data and model licensing terms.
  • Develop automated and AI-assisted workflows to support internal contract compliance.
  • Partner with external counsel on IP litigation, strategy, and regulatory matters.
  • Lead complex IP and patent litigation through strategy, enforcement, settlement, and licensing.
  • Advise leadership on patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement analyses.
  • Work with R&D and product teams to identify patentable inventions and support IP portfolio development.
  • Oversee IP due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships.
  • Provide legal and regulatory guidance on the design, launch, and post-launch compliance of product features and data integrations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Call to the Bar in one or more Canadian provinces or one or more US states, with an active license to practice law there.
  • 6+ years of legal experience, preferably in technology.
  • At least 3 years in an in-house commercial role.
  • At least 3 years of complex litigation experience.
  • Strong understanding of the ad tech ecosystem, including DSPs, SSPs, ad exchanges, CTV, AI-powered ad tech, and programmatic advertising.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle complex cases and deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for commercial agreements.
  • Preferred: Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification.
  • Preferred: Experience with AI-related legal and governance issues in ad tech, martech, or similar technology platforms.
  • Preferred: Fluency with AI and automation tools in a modern legal function.
