Description

  • Design and build systems for audiobook ingestion, transformation, and delivery at scale.
  • Contribute across backend services, APIs, lightweight interfaces, and operational tools as team needs evolve.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to turn complex workflows into reliable systems.
  • Own the operational health of the services you build and drive reliability and performance improvements.
  • Work across adjacent areas such as data pipelines, internal tooling, and deployment infrastructure when needed.
  • Author and review RFCs and help shape technical decisions across the Audiobooks ecosystem.
  • Make pragmatic, reversible decisions while operating beyond team boundaries.
  • Mentor peers and contribute to an inclusive, psychologically safe engineering culture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in backend systems and distributed architectures.
  • Strong proficiency with Spotify's backend stack, including Java, gRPC, and GCP.
  • Data experience and willingness to work across the stack when needed.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Experience taking ownership of quality and operational excellence.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with frequent context switching.
  • Curiosity about the business domain and the broader audiobook ecosystem.
  • Collaborative, humble, and growth-minded approach to teamwork and learning.
