Description

  • Own major Android features from product decisions through release in partnership with Design.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and maintain shared components and architecture.
  • Improve reliability metrics, automated verification, release processes, and nightly QA builds.
  • Unblock engineers, consolidate duplicate solutions, and resolve recurring technical problems.
  • Lead planning and determine appropriate review and sign-off requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering while representing team constraints early.
  • Handle critical issues and own feature releases.
  • Mentor early-career engineers through meaningful work and learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product surface while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, music player services, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background functionality.
  • Understanding of effective testing strategies, including test limitations and appropriate coverage.
  • Track record of introducing processes or technical improvements that teams adopted and maintained.
  • Experience building shared solutions used by the broader team, not only personal productivity tools.
  • Ability to evaluate review requirements based on system risk and complexity.
  • Experience working with AI agents at the team level.
  • Strong product design intuition, user empathy, communication skills, and initiative.
  • Open-source Android experience or familiarity with iOS, Web, or Node.js is preferred.
