Description

  • Own major Android features from product and design decisions through release.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and maintain shared components.
  • Own and improve reliability metrics for key features.
  • Unblock engineers and consolidate duplicated implementations into shared solutions.
  • Reduce manual release work and expand automated verification and testing.
  • Plan team work around decisions, review requirements, and process improvements.
  • Handle critical issues, feature releases, and nightly builds for QA.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering while representing team constraints.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and create opportunities for meaningful learning.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product area while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, music player services, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
  • Understanding of effective testing strategies, including test limitations and coverage decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce engineering practices that remain adopted by a team.
  • Experience building reusable systems adopted by teammates, not only personal productivity tools.
  • Ability to evaluate review requirements based on system risk and behavior.
  • Experience working with AI agents at the team level.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, and motivation to improve Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
  • Excellent communication, self-direction, and willingness to lead through process change.
  • Open-source Android experience or experience with iOS, Web, or Node.js preferred.
