Description

  • Drive program-level decisions on RF system designs.
  • Research novel solutions for large-scale satellite RF systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, DSP, and software engineers to design and validate RF systems.
  • Own development and full life cycle support of RF hardware, including board testing, defect detection, unit testing, and on-orbit anomaly resolution.
  • Create electromagnetic simulation models for antennas, filters, and PCB layouts to evaluate performance.
  • Modify electrical schematics and mechanical drawings for flight applications to improve reliability and manufacturability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in RF engineering.
  • Experience with modeling and analysis tools such as HFSS, CST, ADS, MATLAB, C/C++, and/or Python.
  • Experience with RF test equipment such as VNA and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience creating and maintaining link budgets for communications or remote sensing systems.
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with emphasis in microwave/RF engineering (preferred).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a relevant field (preferred).
  • Experience modeling RF and channel impairments such as multipath, phase noise, group delay, fading, and nonlinear distortion (preferred).
  • Experience designing RF systems for radio astronomy, SIGINT, ELINT, radar, or wireless communications (preferred).
  • Experience with antenna theory and software-defined radios such as GNU Radio (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret SCI clearance (preferred).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or otherwise eligible for required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • If working on sensitive SpaceX missions, must pass pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $160,000 to $225,000 per year.
  • 10% pay differential, up to an additional $20,000 annually, for employees with an active TS/SCI clearance once briefed into a classified program.
