Description

  • Own ruggedized hardware design from concept generation through production realization on condensed timelines.
  • Use first-principles physics to guide design decisions.
  • Lead design reviews, run analysis, and define and execute hardware test plans to validate reliability in harsh environments.
  • Build prototypes of complex electromechanical systems.
  • Coordinate across internal teams to prototype, analyze failures, and transition successful designs into production.
  • Support critical hardware demonstrations with internal and external customers.
  • Travel to test sites and vendors as needed.
  • Scale legacy design concepts to support full-rate production.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional mechanical or electromechanical design experience.
  • Experience in immersive technical projects such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or SAE Aero.
  • 3D CAD proficiency on any platform and ability to apply GD&T to create high-quality engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with NX and Teamcenter, preferred.
  • M.Eng, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, preferred.
  • Experience developing ruggedized electromechanical assemblies from concept to low-rate production for automotive, space, or military applications, preferred.
  • Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs such as motors, controllers, sensors, and radars, preferred.
  • Experience with machining, sheet metal, injection molding, welding, wire harnessing, and 3D printing for design for manufacturability, preferred.
