Description

  • Drive the Wi‑Fi software roadmap for products used by the majority of Starlink users worldwide.
  • Debug and optimize kernel-level system performance.
  • Collaborate with RF and EE engineers to improve testing procedures for software and hardware.
  • Mentor software engineers and help build a strong work culture.
  • Improve Wi‑Fi mesh performance.
  • Invent tools that improve software deployment frequency, test execution, and data analysis within the continuous integration and release system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a STEM discipline plus 10+ years of professional software development experience, or 12+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 8+ years of development experience in C or C++.
  • Experience with the IEEE 802.11 wireless standard and networking protocols such as UDP and TCP/IP.
  • Experience working on embedded software for networking equipment.
  • Experience with networking kernel modules and drivers (preferred).
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of networks, embedded systems, math, and physics (preferred).
  • Solid communication and leadership skills (preferred).
  • Experience testing Wi‑Fi for performance or stability (preferred).
  • Deep understanding of testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and continuous monitoring (preferred).
  • Knowledge of DHCP, IPv4, IPv6, Linux bridge, and network stack internals (preferred).
  • Experience driving cross-team projects (preferred).
  • Experience with security issues associated with distributed systems and internet services (preferred).
  • Experience with Golang, Python, hostAP, and Wi‑Fi chipsets (preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements (preferred).
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed.
  • Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen/national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise eligible for required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
