Description

  • Review and update schematics to meet compilation requirements and assist engineers with hierarchical design capture.
  • Determine layer stackup, component package selection, component placement, routing feasibility, and signal routing for digital, analog, RF, and power circuits.
  • Produce printed circuit board designs for avionics systems supporting launch vehicles and spacecraft.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet DFM guidelines.
  • Create and maintain PCB libraries.
  • Create and release documentation for PCB fabrication.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and PCB vendors to improve design rules, constraints, and design-for-test/manufacture guidelines.
  • Use PCB design tools, evaluate new tools, and train team members on tool usage.
  • Work with mechanical engineering counterparts to support component placement that withstands thermal, shock, vibration, and EMI environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in electronics hardware design, including academic projects, internships, or professional experience.
  • 1+ years of experience using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software such as KiCad, Altium, Eagle, or Xpedition (preferred).
  • Experience with electrical simulation software such as LTspice or SIMetrix (preferred).
  • Ability to design analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits (preferred).
  • Knowledge of digital communications interfaces including SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and RS-422 (preferred).
  • Familiarity with low-noise layout practices and EMI/EMC minimization (preferred).
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability, assembly, and test (preferred).
  • Experience with IPC standards (preferred).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomous, and demanding environment.
  • Extreme ownership and ability to manage projects from start to finish.
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission-critical deadlines.
  • Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or be eligible for required U.S. Department of State authorization.

  • Base salary of $100,000 to $120,000 per year for PCB Designer/Level I, or $115,000 to $135,000 per year for PCB Designer/Level II.
