Description

  • Manage a team of 5-10 engineers to design, develop, and validate highly reliable electronics for gateway systems.
  • Drive electrical architecture, specification, component selection, circuit board design, implementation, verification, board bring-up, and debugging.
  • Define and manage key project milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with antenna, software, mechanical, networking, thermal, manufacturing, and production test teams to support overall program success.
  • Compile lessons learned and apply them to future designs and long-term technical and business solutions.
  • Drive product architecture toward low cost, higher performance, improved user experience, and extended reliability.
  • Implement automated design validation tests and production tests as needed.
  • Recruit, develop, and promote engineers and specialists while setting standards and holding the team accountable for technical rigor.
  • Own and build associated engineering labs or development workspaces and manage related capital spend.
  • Ensure a strong focus on safety and maintain an excellent safety record.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another engineering/STEM discipline.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in hardware design/development or electronics test engineering.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Experience managing large, multidisciplinary technical projects from concept through production (preferred).
  • Significant experience designing and delivering highly reliable products for harsh or high-stakes environments (preferred).
  • Significant experience designing mixed-signal circuit boards using processors, FPGAs, Ethernet, multi-GHz SerDes, DRAM interfaces (DDR4), I2C, SPI, op amps, ADCs/DACs, and power supply components (preferred).
  • Significant experience testing, troubleshooting, and debugging electronics (preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to EMC/EMI compliance and thermal management (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Python, C/C++, computer networking, and optical networking fundamentals (preferred).
  • Experience with desktop/server Linux and embedded operating systems (preferred).
  • Experience leading and mentoring diverse engineering teams (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and discuss configuration, execution, and results in a technical manner.
  • Must be willing to travel to SpaceX sites in Hawthorne, CA and Redmond, WA as needed.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary.
  • Must satisfy ITAR export-control eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen/national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise eligible for required authorization.
