Description

  • Directly manage a team of software engineers.
  • Own the delivery and support of the Build Reliability software roadmap used across SpaceX.
  • Drive architectural direction and roadmap execution for the team.
  • Collaborate with SpaceX engineers to understand needs and turn them into reliable software solutions.
  • Oversee the full software lifecycle, including development, testing, and support.
  • Track application and feature usage and recommend or implement improvements.
  • Manage multiple priorities while keeping focus on shared project goals.
  • Support the technical and personal development of team members.
  • Maintain high standards of excellence and continuously improve existing systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or another engineering discipline and 5+ years of professional software development experience, or 7+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience mentoring and growing employees.
  • Experience as an architect designing and implementing robust, scalable systems with flexible UI for future needs.
  • Experience with Python, C#, .NET, Go, Java, or a similar object-oriented language.
  • Experience with Angular, React, or a similar JavaScript framework.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar database technologies.
  • Expertise in designing software systems.
  • Expertise in testing and infrastructure.
  • Expertise in profiling and improving application performance.
  • Experience collaborating across group and department lines with a wide range of engineers and managers.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented programming and networking.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • U.S. citizen/national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise eligible for required U.S. Department of State export authorization (ITAR requirement).

  • Base salary of $160,000 to $225,000 per year.
