Description

  • Participate in equipment concept development and balance specifications, process needs, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time constraints.
  • Design electrical control panels and create electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics that comply with relevant industrial codes and standards.
  • Write, architect, and debug PLC code for manufacturing systems using organized, maintainable, and reusable programming practices.
  • Develop robot systems that support automated manufacturing of Starship vehicle sub-components.
  • Implement control-reliable safety systems for robots, gantries, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Design HMI screens that are simple to use while providing useful troubleshooting feedback.
  • Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing.
  • Select and size electrical and electromechanical components such as servo motors and controllers.
  • Deploy automated processes and equipment into production.
  • Set, implement, and maintain project schedules and budgets to ensure timely completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of experience designing and commissioning automation and controls systems for industrial applications.
  • Experience with process integration and electromechanical or mechatronic systems.
  • Experience with robotic weld applications such as Kuka, ABB, or Fanuc (preferred).
  • Robot and PLC simulation experience (preferred).
  • Experience with National Instruments software and hardware (preferred).
  • Electrical schematic CAD experience using EPlan (preferred).
  • Experience with C#, .NET, Python, and/or SQL (preferred).
  • PLC programming experience, preferably Siemens TIA Portal and Beckhoff TwinCat 3.
  • HMI and SCADA programming experience (preferred).
  • Experience with field bus networks, serial communication, and Ethernet communication.
  • Hands-on experience building and commissioning high-quality electrical control panels and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, and UL508A codes.
  • Exposure to production machinery and industrial sensors such as vision systems, dispense systems, temperature controllers, laser distance sensors, and Nut-Runners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in fast-paced iterative design and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with little to no supervision, independently or on an integrated team.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to meet physical job requirements, including standing, sitting, pushing/pulling, reaching, walking, lifting/carrying, climbing, kneeling/crouching, twisting, and working in temperatures over 80 degrees.
  • Ability to safely work at heights up to 500 feet, in confined spaces, and while using an air purifying respirator.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment questionnaire and/or physical, including a medical history review, if required.
  • Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen/national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise eligible for required U.S. Department of State authorization.
