Description

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and maintain EPC, construction, procurement, O&M, professional services, and other commercial agreements.
  • Advise project teams on contract interpretation, delays, change orders, milestones, warranties, and subcontractor and supplier performance.
  • Identify and assess contractual risks related to indemnification, insurance, liability limits, payment, termination, liquidated damages, and remedies.
  • Research and advise on federal, state, and local requirements, including prevailing wage, apprenticeship, licensing, permitting, and tax-credit compliance.
  • Support O&M, asset management, and other agreements for construction and operational activities.
  • Assist with contract claims, payment disputes, subcontractor defaults, insurance matters, litigation, and outside counsel coordination.
  • Support assignments, consents, due diligence, and other transactional matters related to construction, procurement, and operations.
  • Partner with Procurement, Construction, Engineering, Development, Operations, and Finance teams to resolve legal issues and enable project execution.
  • Improve contract templates, negotiation positions, legal resources, and contract review and approval processes.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
  • 2+ years of relevant legal experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Experience in construction, procurement, renewable energy, or an in-house legal department (preferred).
  • Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to identify material legal risks and recommend practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Sound commercial judgment regarding the impact of contract provisions on project costs, schedules, and operations.
  • Ability to independently manage routine matters, prioritize competing deadlines, and escalate issues when needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with legal and nonlegal stakeholders.
  • Proactive, resourceful, detail-oriented approach and interest in growing within a legal team.
