Description

  • Set Legal priorities aligned with business strategy, product plans, and major risks.
  • Advise the CEO, executive team, and Board on legal requirements, business trade-offs, and strategic decisions.
  • Oversee corporate governance, Board support, equity matters, corporate policies, and global entity management.
  • Lead legal strategy for financing, M&A, partnerships, diligence, and other strategic transactions.
  • Manage major litigation, disputes, investigations, regulatory inquiries, and critical outside counsel relationships.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and business leaders on AI-enabled products and customer experiences.
  • Guide legal matters involving consumer protection, marketing, subscriptions, privacy, data use, intellectual property, and AI regulation.
  • Oversee major commercial negotiations and establish standards for routine agreements.
  • Lead, develop, and resource a lean Legal team, including AI-enabled legal tools and operating practices.
  • Support international operations, employment matters, compliance, and e-commerce regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of in-house legal leadership experience in technology, B2B/B2C marketplaces, platform e-commerce, or similarly complex businesses.
  • Experience as a General Counsel or senior legal leader in a highly regulated industry, including responsibility for legal strategy, executive counsel, and Board matters.
  • J.D. and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
  • Demonstrated AI fluency and ability to lead AI adoption across a Legal function.
  • Strong corporate generalist judgment, including depth in governance, consumer protection, and complex litigation or regulatory matters.
  • Experience leading legal work for significant financing, M&A, or other strategic transactions.
  • Experience advising on technology products, privacy, data use, and customer-facing business issues.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop senior legal talent, and balance delegation with direct engagement.
  • Business-minded, practical judgment and the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including executive advising and stakeholder alignment in an asynchronous environment.
