Description

  • Lead and mentor a distributed team of software engineers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative environment.
  • Define and communicate team objectives, set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate training programs to enhance the team’s technical capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, professional growth, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering through deployment to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, deliverables, and create project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Manage project priorities, resolve conflicts, and ensure efficient project execution.
  • Track and report project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership and promote best practices, architectural standards, and code quality across the team.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, cross-functional teams, and senior leaders to align priorities and execute strategies that improve software development practices and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Software Development Manager or in a technical leadership role, preferably in a fast-paced software development environment.
  • Demonstrated track record managing and leading software teams and delivering complex software projects.
  • Strong technical background and proficiency with multiple programming languages, frameworks, and technologies.
  • Experience or familiarity with Kafka, Kubernetes, Datadog, CI/CD, Java/Kotlin, TypeScript, Spring Boot, and GraphQL.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Hands-on, ownership-minded approach to technical direction and team growth.
  • Experience in financial services, especially interaction with underwriting, pricing, and/or risk (nice to have).
  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define scope and drive projects to completion.
  • Preference for candidates located in the Salt Lake City, Utah area (strong preference noted); remote from Hawaii or Alaska is not accommodated.
