Description

  • Partner with the Studio Head on product strategy and studio direction.
  • Create and pitch new game concepts that are innovative, cohesive, marketable, and feasible within constraints.
  • Align design, art, narrative, user experience, and audio around a consistent creative vision.
  • Balance creative ambition with scope, schedule, and available resources in collaboration with production and other disciplines.
  • Communicate the creative vision clearly to internal teams, clients, and studio leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, high-performing creative culture and provide clear feedback and direction.
  • Review designs, prototypes, builds, art, scripts, and UX flows regularly.
  • Participate in playtests and provide actionable, player-focused feedback.
  • Contribute directly to concepting, vision decks, narrative beats, and high-level design guidance when needed.
  • Ensure quality, accessibility, usability, and player experience are considered from early development through launch.
  • Identify creative risks early and guide teams toward strong solutions.
  • Collaborate with studio leadership on broader studio strategy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a creative leadership role on mobile, PC, or console products.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Creative Director with at least one game conceptualized, shipped, and commercially successful.
  • Experience taking games from initial concept through live operations and live support.
  • Must be currently located in or willing to relocate to the Greater Vancouver Area and able to work in Canada.
  • Ability to come into the Downtown Vancouver office as needed.
  • Ego-free leadership style with openness to feedback from leadership, clients, and production partners.
  • Strong pragmatic approach to shaping ambitious ideas to fit studio capacity.
  • Deep understanding of the gaming market, current trends, player psychology, and targeted experience design.
  • Masterful communication and presentation skills with experience pitching game concepts to internal teams, clients, and studio leadership.
  • Experience with premium and freemium game mechanics, KPIs, and monetization strategies.
  • Ability to conduct market research and industry analysis, including SWOT analysis.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet short timelines, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Self-driven with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Willingness to innovate within game parameters and rapidly prototype independently.
  • Experience mentoring and improving staff skills is a plus.
