Description

  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Build a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on accountability, innovation, and excellence.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide actionable feedback, and support career growth for team members.
  • Define the team vision and roadmap in alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into engineering projects.
  • Lead execution of major initiatives such as a FHIR translation layer, mono-repository decomposition, data federation, and domain event-streaming.
  • Work with Principal Engineers to develop scalable and reliable software solutions.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, including software architecture deficiencies and long-term risks.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for development, testing, and operational workflows.
  • Represent the team to senior leadership, customers, and stakeholders while coordinating across engineering and business groups.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in software development, including at least 3+ years managing teams.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, APIs, and scalable systems.
  • Proven ability to make trade-offs between short-term and long-term technical needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and retain high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to define a team mission and roadmap aligned with company-wide OKRs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including strategic documentation such as narratives and proposals.
  • Track record of delivering results in ambiguous, high-pressure situations.
  • Experience managing teams working on backend systems.
  • Background leading engineering teams focused on core services and frameworks, or experience as an individual contributor on such teams (preferred).
  • Familiarity with domain-driven design and cross-functional software development (preferred).
  • Proven ability to work with US timezone distributed teams and stakeholders (preferred).
