Description

  • Own and evolve the edge proxy platform, including the proxy binary, configuration tooling, container image lifecycle, and related CDN, WAF, and traffic management capabilities.
  • Design and implement Terraform and Terragrunt modules and live configurations for AWS infrastructure across multiple regions, including GovCloud.
  • Operate multi-region Kubernetes and EKS environments using FluxCD GitOps workflows, Helm charts, node AMI rotation, add-on lifecycle management, and autoscaling.
  • Build, maintain, and improve shared GitLab CI/CD pipeline templates and alternative workflows for isolated government cloud environments.
  • Automate operational tasks such as image patching, AMI rotation, air-gapped ECR sync, and monthly version-bump merge request creation.
  • Provision and maintain observability assets such as Datadog SLOs, monitors, and dashboards, and participate in the on-call rotation for edge proxy incidents.
  • Support FedRAMP and GovCloud operations in isolated, compliance-sensitive environments with air-gapped distribution and alert handling constraints.
  • Research, prototype, and drive adoption of internal developer tools that improve engineering productivity and self-service across the company.
  • Collaborate with peers through code reviews, architecture discussions, and runbook authorship while mentoring teammates.
  • Troubleshoot complex multi-system incidents with strong judgment and maintain composure in high-pressure operational situations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Deep proficiency with Terraform and Terragrunt for managing cloud infrastructure at scale.
  • Strong Kubernetes expertise, including EKS operations and Helm chart authoring.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including EKS, ALB/NLB, VPC, IAM, ECR, Route53, CloudWatch, and EventBridge.
  • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, with Go or Python preferred.
  • Solid understanding of reverse proxies, API gateways, or load balancers such as NGINX or HAProxy.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, with GitLab CI preferred.
  • Experience with container image security practices, including hardened base images, vulnerability scanning, and image promotion workflows.
  • Strong operational skills for on-call work, incident response, runbooks, postmortems, and managing multiple concurrent workstreams independently.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills for working with peers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle and document sensitive operational and compliance-related information with discretion.
  • 1 year of professional experience using AI-based workflows to author, maintain, review, and deploy infrastructure or code.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Bulgaria on an ongoing basis.
  • Experience with enterprise CDN platforms, including WAF configuration, origin routing, and cache policy management, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FedRAMP or AWS GovCloud operational constraints is preferred.
  • Experience with advanced reverse proxy or API gateway configuration, including programmatic config generation and dynamic routing, is preferred.
  • Experience managing Datadog resources via Terraform is preferred.
  • Familiarity with rate-limiting services, control plane components, or custom traffic filter development is preferred.

  • Competitive base salary of €70,250 - €83,000 EUR for Bulgaria.
