Description

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using PHP and Symfony.
  • Own features end to end, from ticket definition and technical design through production release.
  • Write clean, strongly typed, maintainable, secure, and testable code.
  • Apply design patterns and promote Test-Driven Development practices.
  • Build and maintain automated test coverage using PHPUnit and related tools.
  • Use static analysis, linters, and code quality tools to ensure reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with product, design, QA, and engineering teams.
  • Break complex initiatives into actionable tasks and guide implementation.
  • Monitor systems and participate in a rotating on-call schedule when required.
  • Document technical decisions and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional PHP experience, including PHP 7.4 or 8+.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Symfony experience; Laravel-only experience does not qualify.
  • Strong practical understanding of software design patterns.
  • Experience with unit and integration testing using PHPUnit, Behat, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Test-Driven Development.
  • Familiarity with PHPStan, Psalm, or similar static analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, code coverage, and deployment workflows.
  • Excellent technical communication and ability to explain technical decisions.
  • Experience with MongoDB, JavaScript, React, Node.js, or TypeScript is preferred.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or high-availability systems is preferred.
