  • Build and maintain scalable design-system components, patterns, and standards.
  • Plan and conduct lightweight usability research, interviews, and feedback sessions to inform design decisions.
  • Develop user flows, journey maps, and service blueprints to identify user needs and friction points.
  • Design products to meet Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards from the outset.
  • Collaborate with engineers, AI team members, and CMS stakeholders, delivering implementation-ready design handoffs.

Requirements

  • Portfolio demonstrating strong visual and interaction design and end-to-end delivery of polished, shipped products.
  • Advanced Figma skills, including high-fidelity design, prototyping, design systems, and component libraries.
  • Knowledge of information architecture, interaction patterns, usability principles, and lightweight research methods.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and federal customer-experience mandates.
  • Experience designing for accessibility, including Section 508 and WCAG compliance.
  • Ability to lead discovery and research as well as product design.
  • Front-end familiarity with HTML/CSS or experience collaborating closely with React teams (preferred).
  • Experience designing data-heavy or AI-driven products, such as dashboards, search, chat, or knowledge tools (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance and pass a background investigation; prior CMS or federal agency experience is preferred.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, plus HSA and FSA options.
  • 15 days of paid leave, 7 sick days, 2 bereavement days, and 11 paid federal holidays.
  • Up to 4 weeks of paid maternity and paternity leave.
  • 401(k) with a 4% employer contribution and no vesting period.
  • Flexible working hours and remote-work opportunities.
  • $5,000 annually for professional development and $600 annually for technical supplies and equipment.
  • Company-provided laptop and a $2,000 employee referral bonus.
  • Up to 40 hours of paid jury duty and voluntary Legal Shield and ID Shield benefits.
