Description

  • Improve and evolve SkySafe’s SDR-based systems for drone detection and tracking.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain signal detection, demodulation, and decoding algorithms for wireless protocols.
  • Build software modems from information provided by reverse engineers and translate protocol insights into working components.
  • Optimize existing SDR modem implementations for processing performance and RF sensitivity.
  • Collaborate with reverse engineering, software, and sensors teams to validate and improve field-deployed modem performance.
  • Participate in performance validation, field validation, and integration of modem features into production systems.
  • Support operational requirements, including participation in the on-call operations schedule.
  • Own specific modem components or signal-processing pipelines and drive their design, deployment, and ongoing improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in wireless communications, SDR, or related fields.
  • Strong background in signal processing, communication systems, information theory, and channel coding.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement complex wireless systems, preferably including OFDM and MIMO.
  • Background in SDR modem implementation using C++ and Python.
  • Proficiency with Linux systems.
  • Proficiency in software development practices: Git, testing, automation, observability/metrics, issue tracking, and code reviews.
  • Must be a US Person under US export laws (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible for a U.S. Government export license.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful with strong communication, collaboration, and time-management skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with NI (Ettus) SDRs (RF design, FPGA firmware, UHD, RFNoC), familiarity with modern wireless standards (LTE, 5G NR, WiFi, Bluetooth, GNSS), signals analysis/reverse engineering experience, and familiarity with SDR processing offload techniques (FPGA, GPU).
