Description

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and operation of control system infrastructure for utility-scale energy storage assets.
  • Program PPC, HMI, and RTU systems and maintain the associated technical documentation.
  • Support day-to-day plant automation activities to maintain network reliability, availability, and serviceability with minimal interruption.
  • Provide technical support by responding to complex work orders, tickets, and operational technology or control system issues.
  • Analyze and resolve complex control system and operations technology problems.
  • Oversee network technology upgrades and expansion projects, including hardware and software installation and integration testing.
  • Participate in field construction and plant commissioning activities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for control and instrumentation systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external EPC vendors during project bidding and execution phases.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in a related field; electrical engineering degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of related industry experience; renewable energy industry experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with battery energy storage system use cases such as primary frequency response (PFR), fast frequency response (FFR), and black start is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and maintaining plant control systems using industry-standard SCADA and PLC platforms.
  • Understanding of data logging requirements and historian platforms.
  • Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition.
  • Experience with Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs, SEL RTACs, and Novatech Orions.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including DNP3.0, Modbus, OPC-UA, and MQTT.
  • Programming experience in Python, IEC 61131-3, C, C++, or C#.
  • Proficiency in writing technical specifications for process or manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices, including IT/OT standards, and knowledge of NERC/CIP/NIST procedures.
  • Ability to explain complex technical analysis to internal management and external parties.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with both technical and non-technical members.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
