Description

  • Identify, label, track, and correct raw point-cloud data from motion-capture shoots.
  • Reconstruct missing tracking data caused by actor occlusions using interpolation, smoothing, and reference footage.
  • Remove jitter, spikes, and tracking artifacts while preserving performance nuance and weight.
  • Solve processed marker data onto 3D character rigs and retarget performances across differing proportions.
  • Correct retargeting issues including foot and hand sliding, floor penetration, clipping, joint stretching, and posture anomalies.
  • Synchronize cleaned motion-capture data with reference video to retain the actor’s timing, emotion, and weight distribution.
  • Apply keyframe animation layers to refine poses, timing, balance, and stylized or cinematic performance direction.
  • Adjust animation curves to ensure accurate interactions with props, weapons, vehicles, and uneven terrain.
  • Deliver clean animation data on schedule to character animation and cinematic layout teams.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of motion-capture cleanup and tracking experience in video game production.
  • Advanced proficiency with data-cleanup and retargeting tools such as Autodesk MotionBuilder and Vicon Shogun Post.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Maya and animation curves in Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Advanced traditional 3D keyframe animation skills, including graph editors, Euler angles, and gimbal-lock resolution.
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, realistic movement, weight distribution, and performance reconstruction.
  • Deep knowledge of FK and IK systems and character-rig behavior under external constraints.
  • Strong command of animation principles including weight, anticipation, staging, arcs, and secondary action.
  • Ability to interpret director feedback and translate creative notes into technical animation adjustments.
  • Exceptional patience, attention to detail, and organization when managing high volumes of performance data under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to determine when to preserve captured performance nuance and when to use keyframes for gameplay or cinematic clarity.

Benefits

  • Remote work arrangement within a six-hour time-zone difference from Poland.
  • 9–12 month contract with an as-soon-as-possible start date.
  • Opportunity to work with a global video game development and services provider on productions for major developers and publishers.
  • Collaboration with an international team across Side’s global studio network.
