Description

  • Provide clear advice-to-decision paths for new and ongoing AI projects, enabling fast, safe executive decisions.
  • Propose and review AI strategy and practical implementation pathways, including tradeoffs and roadmaps.
  • Design and deliver reference architectures, architecture decision records (ADRs), playbooks, guardrail policies, and risk registers.
  • Create buy/build/partner matrices and vendor RFPs and evaluate third‑party providers.
  • Advise on LLM and multi-agent systems (safety, evals, retrieval, tool-use, orchestration, cost/latency engineering).
  • Advise on MLOps and data platforms, including feature stores, pipelines, governance, and labeling/feedback loops.
  • Advise on SRE and cloud economics (SLOs, incident management, cost/performance tradeoffs) and on security & privacy (threat modeling, secrets management, data minimization).
  • Support product and growth topics including AI monetization, pricing, usage metering, and partner integrations; participate in short design review clinics and onboarding sessions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of industry experience with prior CTO, Head of AI, Principal/Distinguished Engineer, or equivalent senior technical leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of shipping AI systems at scale and operating Scaled AI/ML systems with >1M users.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Python and FastAPI projects and production use of LLM APIs.
  • Experience building and managing complex data pipelines and data platforms (feature stores, pipelines, labeling/feedback loops).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to produce artifacts (ADRs, design decks, audits) that enable executive decisions.
  • Experience with SRE/cloud economics, incident management, and cost/performance tradeoffs for AI systems.
  • Experience with security, privacy, and regulatory considerations (threat modeling, data minimization, DPIA/TRA) — healthcare/clinical AI experience is a plus.
  • Prior advisory, fractional, consulting, or board-level support experience for engineering or AI teams is preferred.
  • Willingness to work as an independent contractor, invoice hourly in USD, and participate in the application steps (submit artifacts and a short self-recorded video interview).
