Description

  • Provide clear advice-to-decision paths for new and existing AI projects, including recommended next steps and tradeoffs.
  • Propose and review AI strategy and implementation pathways, moving between high-level strategy and technical detail.
  • Produce and review reference architectures, design reviews, ADRs, playbooks, guardrail policies, and risk registers.
  • Perform threat models, evaluation audits, quality checks, and vendor assessments (including buy/build/partner matrices and RFP inputs).
  • Advise on LLM & multi-agent system design (safety, retrieval, tool-use, orchestration, cost/latency engineering).
  • Advise on MLOps and data platform strategy (feature stores, pipelines, governance, labeling/feedback loops).
  • Advise on SRE/cloud economics, incident management, SLOs, and cost/performance tradeoffs for production AI systems.
  • Communicate recommendations clearly and deliver actionable artifacts (decks, ADRs, playbooks) that leadership can act upon.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of industry experience with prior CTO, Head of AI, or Distinguished Engineer/AI Engineering roles.
  • Proven track record of shipping AI at scale, including scaled AI/ML systems with >1M users.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Python and FastAPI projects in production.
  • Production experience integrating and operating LLM APIs and related tooling at scale.
  • Experience building and managing complex data pipelines, feature stores, and MLOps workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and experience delivering concise, high-impact guidance and artifacts.
  • Experience with SRE/cloud economics, incident management, and cost/latency engineering for AI services.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with regulated healthcare or clinical AI (privacy frameworks, DPIA/TRA, compliance, audit trails).
  • Nice-to-have: prior advisory, fractional, consulting, or board-level support experience for engineering or AI teams.

Benefits

  • Hourly compensation paid in USD (paid via Wise or bank direct deposit) with hourly invoicing.
  • Engagement term typically 6–12 months with flexible scope and deliverables.
  • Fully remote, global role (offshore-friendly to Western Europe, U.S., Canada, Australia, Latin America, Israel, Singapore, Malaysia, SE Asia).
  • Independent contractor status (no employee benefits).
