Description

  • Design and build Golang backend services that integrate with payment processors, gateways, and card networks.
  • Own end-to-end money-movement flows including authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, reconciliation, and chargeback/dispute handling.
  • Build idempotent, fault-tolerant, and auditable transaction processing in a distributed architecture.
  • Implement payment-data security and compliance flows within PCI DSS scope, including tokenization, network tokens, and 3DS/SCA where applicable.
  • Monitor payment system health and performance metrics such as authorization rates, decline rates, processor performance, latency, and settlement accuracy.
  • Partner closely with Product, Risk, Compliance, Support, and other engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Mentor engineers, unblock peers, and help raise the technical bar across the team.
  • Occasionally lead small project teams through delivery.
  • Use AI tools such as Claude or equivalent LLMs to accelerate design, coding, research, testing, and documentation within security policies.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, with meaningful time spent on payments, fintech, or money-movement systems.
  • 8+ years of experience is expected for the senior development compensation band.
  • Strong Go experience preferred, or comparable experience in Python, building and serving REST APIs.
  • Hands-on experience integrating with payment processors, gateways, or acquiring systems.
  • Solid understanding of payments fundamentals, including authorization vs. settlement, tokenization, idempotency, reconciliation, and chargebacks/disputes.
  • Experience with distributed, cloud-based architectures using patterns such as transactional outboxes and queues like Kafka, SQS, or RabbitMQ.
  • Demonstrated hands-on use of Claude or an equivalent LLM to improve productivity, research, and communication.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred experience with SQL-based RDBMS through an ORM tool.
  • Preferred familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, New Relic, or Datadog.
  • Preferred DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized microservices on Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Preferred history of shipping commercial APIs and web applications.
  • Direct experience with payments acquiring ecosystems such as Adyen, Stripe, Marqeta, or Fiserv is a plus.
  • Exposure to PCI DSS, 3DS/SCA, network tokenization, or payments compliance is a plus.
