Description

  • Own the end-to-end product compliance function for new and existing features across Sezzle’s consumer lending, BNPL, and payment products.
  • Serve as the dedicated compliance partner to the Product team from ideation through launch and post-launch iteration.
  • Champion the use of AI-powered compliance and RegTech tools to scale product compliance review, monitoring, and workflow automation.
  • Track and interpret regulatory developments affecting consumer-facing product features, including federal and state consumer protection requirements.
  • Partner with product leadership to sequence compliance work alongside feature development and anticipate regulatory changes.
  • Conduct product-level compliance risk assessments, identify control gaps, and develop mitigation strategies for new features and product changes.
  • Develop and maintain product compliance standards, control frameworks, and release criteria.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and UX designers to translate compliance requirements into acceptance criteria, user story guardrails, and implementation guidance.
  • Lead compliance review and sign-off for features involving disclosures, adverse action, credit reporting, payment authorization, marketing claims, and data use.
  • Establish post-launch monitoring protocols and oversee issue tracking, escalation, and remediation for product compliance defects.
  • Prepare reporting for senior leadership and the Chief Compliance Officer on product compliance status and risk exposure.
  • Design and deliver product compliance training and awareness programs for cross-functional product teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field; a J.D. or advanced degree is a plus.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a compliance leadership role within fintech, banking, or financial services.
  • Hands-on experience using AI compliance and RegTech tools to streamline and scale compliance work.
  • Strong working knowledge of consumer financial protection regulations, including TILA/Reg Z, FCRA, EFTA/Reg E, ECOA/Reg B, UDAAP, TCPA, and applicable state consumer protection laws.
  • Familiarity with evolving BNPL regulatory guidance is a significant plus.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, compliance audits, or supervisory reviews.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into product specifications, acceptance criteria, or technical control requirements in agile environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with comfort reviewing product data, user flows, and technical documentation.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent proficiency in Office, Google Workspace, and AI productivity tools.
  • Compliance certifications such as CCEP or CRCM are preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Self-starter mindset with strong ownership and proactive communication.
